An MP3 player is a small, portable music device which store MP3 songs on it's internal memory which can be flash memory or a hard disc drive (HDD). So MP3 players do not need any media such as a CD as all of the music is stored within the MP3 player and you simply use the controls of the MP3 player to navigate your music.
The important thing when you buy an MP3 player is the size of the memory as this directly limits how many songs you can store. Now this all depends on your budget and how many songs you will likely need to store but we recommend as least 1GB of memory as this allows for plenty of songs (around 250).
If you are confused by the memory terminology then there are around 1000MB (Megabytes) in 1GB (Gigabytes) and so a 1GB MP3 player has four times the capacity of a 256MB MP3 player.
