When buying a cheap MP3 player a 1GB model is a very good choice as they are often just as cheap as the smaller MP3 players but offer much more space for your music.
A 1GB MP3 player has enough space for around 250 songs which is a good amount. It is not enough for the real music enthusiasts but for most people 250 songs is enough for general listening. And most 1GB MP3 players do not display video or digital photos so they memory is not taken up by those; the memory is purely for the music.
