Connecting an iPod to the computer can be messy and inconvenient as the USB port is often at the back of the computer so this leads to the iPod being lay on the floor or anywhere else that you can find room.
But it does not have to be like that! You can buy an iPod dock which remains connected to the computer via the USB port at all times, you can then place this dock in your chosen location so that your iPod connection is much more tidy and organised.
You then simply sit the iPod in the iPod dock and it will be instantly connected to the computer in just the same way that it would with a USB cable. And with an iPod dock you can easily see your Ipod and see what is going on while it is connected as well as it being very easy to access.
There are different docks for different iPods but some of the docks work with most iPods and some work with only one so check before you buy that it is compatible with your iPod.
There are then some very impressive docks that include speakers and these allow you to play your iPod's music out loud which is very cool. And some iPod docks also have a remote control so that you can control your Ipod's music through the remote control.
